This cafe is SO cute & the service is really nice! Me & my friend went on a holiday & ate around 3pm, with no line or waiting time (tbf, the kitchen closes at 4pm). The service was really great, the server told me what had dairy in it & the receipt came with “dairy allergy” under the dishes, which shows they cared about the fact that I didn’t want dairy. The food is really good & their oat milk latte also. I would recommend the trout & the squash soup. The price is a lil pricy, but not bad.

2023 Update: Cafe was packed at lunch on a Friday, we needed to make a reservation! We did and they seated us later that day. Food was delicious. Service was attentive and professional. I would be able to take my kids here, but also meet adults for a nice lunch and drinks. The club sandwich was solid. The Bahn Mi was open faced, which was a surprise. Updated decor and menu experience. All very pleasant and cushy. I plan to return, and you should, too! 2015 Review: Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, but I really enjoy the menu at the museum cafe. They do a great job! The decor of the space is a bit dated but the food is great - better than the expected freezer-to-deep-fyer stuff I see in add-on eateries (food places secondarily attached to a main event). I do wish they offered a full menu during their weekly evening hours. If they did, I would be much more inclined to bring my family to the museum for dinner and enjoy a nice evening afterwards roaming the galleries. The nearby Phipps Conservatory does this.

Had a very nice lunch at the museum cafe. The service was impeccable and the "Parisian Gnocchi" had an amazing combination of flavor and texture. Be warned, it is a bit on the heavy side, but every bite is worth the extra steps/stairs whatever you need to do to atone for it.

Really good. I got a Croque Madame and it was delicious!!! Literally the perfect size. I wasn’t stuffed after, but wasn’t hungry. The sandwich was . Perfect dippy egg on top of a nice French ham and cheese sandwich with fresh asparagus. Believe it or not, this was the first time in a decade that I had asparagus because I always thought it tasted bad. I took a leap of faith here and it worked perfectly balancing out the fatty richness of the cheese and ham. The yolk just ran down the side and covered the bottom of the sandwich. Seriously good. Also, the fries were delicately fried to perfection and came without salt, which I liked. Good service! I sat outside so the view and slight breeze was nice. Just a good place to get a nice meal.

This is such a hidden gem in Oakland. I loved everything about this cafe. My only feedback was the lavender latter had a bit of a syrupy taste.

i’ve eaten here 3x over the last year and now making it a point to visit more often. my recent brunch was fantastic. the servers have always been great and the options are unique while still including standard dishes. their outdoor seating is now open, near the outdoor water/fountain. most/all of that time you won’t be in direct sunlight. i love visiting museum and adding the cafe for a snack or meal.
